We buy the "A Course In Miracles" books and use them in classwork that we offer. Some people say that the Course is the work of "the devil," others think that it was channeled by The Son of God (although the speaker in the Course itself refers to himself as a "voice for God). Others claim it was the product of a madwoman, that the channeler, or scribe, Psychologist Helen Schucman was insane and delusional.

This much is certain: the Course's assertion that there are only two emotions: Love, and Fear, are widely embraced. Anger, jealousy, panic, loneliness, all are elements of Fear. So deeply entrenched has this concept become in The Church, in psychology, and in "conventional wisdom," that we must at least look at the Course and the concepts it teaches. We do so willingly, since Christ himself taught that Love Is Greater Than Anything Else....

One of the first things that the Course says is that it is required that we all "take the Course" (that is, learn the lessons of forgiveness, Love, miracles, and that we are created out of the substance of God). Only, we are free to pick the time and the place when we'll "take it" -- learn the lessons. It's just that we will learn the lessons (presumably before leaving our physicial lives here on earth). Regardless of their origin, the lessons are good ones, and worth spending some time trying to understand and integrate.
